We consider ourselves so blessed. There have been so many people that have called, emailed, sent cards, quoted scripture, and brought food. A great big thank you to all of you. You have been such an encouragement to Darrell, the boys, and I. A special thank you to Daisy White (Daisy is an amazing cook--she knows Darrell's weakness for desserts--she cooks desserts on Sunday mornings for our Sunday School class), Karen Blackwell, Cindy Campbell, and Renae Stephenson (and their husbands, too) for "feeding" us so well. It was so nice not to have to worry about what to cook while we have been in and out of the hospital and doctor's offices. Also, the ladies ministries and Computer Services (my work buddies) sent us a Fudgey Nut basket and fruit basket. We ate all the chocolates up and then tried to make ourselves feel better about the fact that we were following up with real healthy fruits
. We had some visitors over the weekend, and several who called and wanted to come over, but understood when we said that it was so hard for Darrell to sit there and not talk to you, when it hurt him to do so. You know him, if you talk to him, he will talk back. We're looking forward to his complete healing so that we can enjoy the full joy of the fellowship with our friends.
Darrell's work "buddies" have been so good to him. So many of them have called and reassured him that they were praying for him, handed him scriptures about healing and faith/fear. We are both so blessed to work with such amazing people. It was especially touching to Darrell for Mary Ann, who is also recovering from cancer, to call and check on him so much, and Pat, who retired at Christmas, to call and check. They are all such a close-knit work family, just like my work family.
