2nd Yearly Checkup

Well, it's been two years since discovery of the cancer in Darrell's thyroid. God has been so good to us over the last couple of years. We have both had opportunities to share and pray with others who are going through cancer and to share God's love and tell of His healing power. This is the week that Darrell has his 2 year full body scan, to check his body for any signs of cancer. He started yesterday and today with shots, tomorrow is bloodwork, and Friday will be the full body scan. We're trusting God for a clean report and hopefully NO more of these tests! Please pray with us!

Sunday before last (April 11th), Darrell sang his first solo in church since all this happened. During choir practice, there was lots of excitement and cheering for him, many said he sounded better and stronger than ever before. We just thank the Lord that He saw fit for Darrell to regain his voice, and return to him his "singing voice"! God is so good!!!

During this last month, we lost a really great friend and mentor, James Cole, to cancer. He was such a precious man and has such a precious family, and I know that God must have really needed him in Heaven for Him to take James from his family and friends. James had just started his treatments for cancer when Darrell first found out about his cancer. He was so positive and uplifting to me and Darrell and we will be forever grateful for his inspiration.

Thank all of you for your prayers! God is faithful!

Hi,

I just wanted to say thank you for chronicling your husbands journey with the Thyroid cancer.

I have just been diagnosed with thyroid nodules...suspicious for cancer, and HPTH, hyperparathyroidism, meaning adenomas there too.

I have been doing much research on the options for myself as the doctors never seem to have time or even show a willingness to answer informed questions. They want to give a pat and say, dont worry, we see this all the time and we can help you...well thats not good enough for me, as past surgeries and complications were devestating for me with the hysterectomy ten years agao, at 34.

I am pushing for the MIRP, which is a minimally invasive radioguided proceedure so my vocals, neck, face, and shoulder nerves wont be damaged. They want to do the exploratory surgery.... the risks of what happened to your husband is too high for me. I am a veteran of the USN and now all I have is my VA benefits.

So, its like fighting the government on what surgical proceedure I am allowed to have.

Did they ever offer you the option of the MIRP, mini surgery? if not, shame on them for making your husband suffer for two years needlessly.

They do not have to remove the thyroid even if it is cancer with this machine as I am told.

I hope you all are well, and I am looking forward to an update soon!

I really enjoyed reading your story.

Thanks Again,

Lori M
